BOOM

Anjulie's "Boom"

WHY IT MADE THE LIST:
A friend of Madame Cymbeline referred this song to her, who, in turn, referred it to me and I quickly fell in love with the music that this woman makes. It's jazzy yet soulful, and I give props to someone who can sing "Boom Shakalaka" with style. It reminds me a little of Amy Winehouse but with an middle eastern flavor to it. (She's actually Canadian believe it or not...) The lyrics speak of encountering someone with whom one knows is not supposed to be getting involved, but just can't help doing it anyway. Its sultry brass and percussion tones make me want to listen to it again and again. Here's the great video that accompanies the song that's definitly worth a taking a look.

Lyrics:

I'm getting myself in something I don't wanna
I'm getting caught up in him but I don't wanna
I'm getting off track
And I can't control a thing, a thing...
I'm telling myself it's not a good idea
But the more I hesitate the more I fall for him
I'm tryin' to erase his face from my memory

And then a
Boom
Shalaka
He's walkin' upa to me
Boom
Shalaka
He start's ta talka to me
Boom
Shalaka
My heart skips a
Boom
Shalaka laka
Boom boom

The more I hang there the more I get wrapped up in him
Imagine myself in the chair I was sittin' in
And every little thing he said comin' back to me
To me
The more I get scared of loosin' I'm afaid to say
Where can I go at the same time it excites me
Gotta get him outta my head
Get on with me

And then a
Boom
Shalaka
He's walkin' upa to me
Boom
Shalaka
He start's ta talka to me
Boom
Shalaka
My heart skips a
Boom
Shalaka laka
Boom boom
Boom
Shalaka

Eyes come in contact a
Boom
Shalaka
Starin' me down talk a
Boom shalaka
My heart skips a
Boom
Shalaka laka
Ah

He make my head go
Boom boom
He make my breath go
Shaka laka
Wherever I go
Boom boom
And everything goes
Shaka laka

I tell myself
No, I'm not gonna do this
I promise myself
No, I'm not gonna do this
Doesn't matter what he says
I know he's no good for me
No no no no

And then a
Boom
Shalaka
He's walkin' upa to me
Boom
Shalaka
He starts ta talka to me
Boom
Shalaka
My heart skips a
Boom
Shalaka laka
Boom boom
Boom
Shalaka

Eyes come in contact a
Boom
Shalaka
Starin' me down talk a
Boom shalaka
My heart skips a
Boom
Shalaka laka
(Boom boom)
Ah ah

He makes my heart go
(Ah ah)
My heart my heart my heart

About Us

What is music without words?
Even those songs that leave us with nothing but different sounds, they still paint a picture in our minds and hearts, leaving behind a legacy, a story
once heard. An impression is made and there's no going back

Dj Dostoy believed in a man's words and felt for his stories
so he chose to stand behind his name, Dostoyevsky. His words portrayed human nature and emotion in both suffering and joy. Lyrics and music in songs also strive to portray these elements of life.

For Madame Cymbeline, music is an expression of something deeper and
something felt but not always readily understood.
She chose a name that came from a man who created something deeper
and full of passion and which is commonly misunderstood, Shakespheare.

What we like most about music is that it is not always what it seems. To one person a song could mean something entirely different than it does to the person standing beside them. Music is abut life and a reaction to living that life. Perhaps a chance to let go and be free to feel something different or a time to reflect on the past while looking ahead to the future.

This can be done through rock, pop, classical, indie, broadway musical, and all kinds of genres. All of which will probably make it on here.

This is our music.

Enjoy,

DJ Dostoy and Madam Cybeline
